Hey, welcome to Ola Pelo, I’m so glad you decided to stop by.
I created this blog to share an access all areas into my mind when it comes to brand building, mum life and staying personally motivated. This blog is also a way for me to keep track of my progress, and in doing so, help readers gain knowledgeable insight and keep the fire burning when spinning so many plates.
My name is Ola, (Oladunni) in full, and I am currently Brands Partnerships Manager over at your favourite feel good social media platform, that is, TikTok, looking after beauty and tech partnerships. This pivot opportunity into this new role surprisingly happened during the Covid-19 lockdown, whereby I accepted an offer to join TikTok and move onto my next chapter from running my own brand marketing consultancy business at what I would actually have considered the peak for running my own a business.
Before running my own business my experience comes from working for industry leaders, such as Nike, where I proposed a whole new premium destination within the Global Flagship store, that became the launchpad for exclusive lines. Whilst at Nike I also led the DTC (direct to consumer) strategy for the women’s training category with Nike Training Club. The latter saw me get a chance to work on a campaign with Serena Williams, who in case it never comes up in any of my posts, is my NO1. This is also where I met my husband, Darcy.
Following Nike, I became the business manager of the No.1 Global Store for M.A.C Cosmetics and responsible for over 100 staff and a turnover of £9m+. My next move saw me enter the world of media at Global Media and Entertainment, where I was Head of Beauty and Fashion Brand partnerships across some of UK’s much-loved radio stations, including, Capital FM, Heart FM, Smooth FM and Classic FM.
I had decided to run my own business after suddenly losing my mum in September 2017 while pregnant with my second son, I was left at the crossroads of either returning back to work after maternity or to find my passion and give the entrepreneurial life a good go. After over 10 years of working in the corporate world, I finally decided to make an exit in April 2018. As my story would go, those 2 years was much needed time for me to rebuild my resilience, confidence and rediscover my tenacity to shape and build start up businesses, all whilst raising a family.
So now that I’ve pretty much copied and pasted my LinkedIn profile on here, I guess I’ll tell you a little more about my personal life. As I mentioned earlier, I am married to an absolute legend Darcy. We’ve been married for 5 years and have three beautiful children. Mayah (4), Micah-Remi (2) and Dream born October 2019. I’m not going to keep changing Dreams age in months every month so until he’s one, that’ll do. We live in Bromley, pretty much love anything that means we can spend more time as a family and eat plantain with near enough everything.
I’ve been lucky enough to build the most loyal and supportive audience on Instagram and TikTok, where we get to share more about the family. I know a thing or two about making social media work for you and when I say work for you, I mean getting paid real money. When I started seriously applying the same branding principles to developing my own personal brand, we started to see months in 2019 when we had over £4k income solely from social media partnerships. P.S At the time of writing this, I have 13k followers, so really there must be more to it than thinking you have to have a crazy number of followers to make it work for you.
That’s what you’ll get from this blog, real number, receipts, and even screenshots so that you know it’s possible for you too. I’m a big believer that the world is a big enough place for us to ALL win together, so if you’re ready to put in the work, get ready to join me on the journey and start seeing results of your own.
When it comes to building a profitable business or personal brand, I’m totally ready to share all the valuable gems, templates and examples that’ll mean whether you’re a budding entrepreneur with a game-changing business idea, a business owner who feels like you’re on a hamster wheel or an influencer trying to navigate social media, you’ll have clear actionable takeaways that will make money sense.
I’ll also share posts about mum life, personal recommendations, and posts that keep it real about my journey with staying personally motivated. Don’t worry they’ll all be split up into categories for you, so you’ll know where to head when you get here, and exactly where to come back to for more.
Just think of me as your very own pocket mentor, getting you to exactly where you want to be whether you’re trying to build a brand, raise a family or just simply live the life you’ve always wanted.
